Understanding the modern approach to making patterns and constructing garments dramatically increases the odds of a successful project and seeing your vision come to life!  Skills such as being able to fine tune the fit on pants or having the pattern skills to redesign around a potential failure in the middle of a project make it much lower stress.  Over the years people ask us for help and we will begin to put those references on this page.

“Reality leaves a lot to the imagination”

There are some great clothes on the racks and on the runways.  Wouldn’t it be nice if they came in a different color and fit real humans? What about a collar from one and a sleeve from something else?  We keep a large electronic design notebook full of photos/swatches and frequently look ahead several seasons for ideas on colors, etc.  Here’s some favorite designers and other inspiring sources.   The best ideas come from the best designers!
